On 12 December 2003, the respective delegations of the Republic of Croatia and Montenegro met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Zagreb, on the occasion of celebrating the first anniversary of signing the Protocol on Provisional Regime along the Southern Border. Mr. Tonino Picula, the Croatian Foreign Minister, received Mr. Dragiša Burzan, Montenegrin Foreign Minister, in a separate audience.
Both Ministers positively evaluated the current implementation of the Protocol and concluded that the overall relations between Croatia and Montenegro have considerably advanced during the past three years. They both confirmed their commitment for joining Euro-Atlantic integration, and the need to cooperate and exchange information regarding this matter. They also talked about the possible developments in Serbia and Montenegro in the view of the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Serbia, and generally about the situation in the wider region. They also talked about other current topics of mutual interest for both states.
