State Secretary Waldner congratulated the Croatian government on the reforms implemented during the accession negotiations with the EU, as well as today’s statement by the European Commission, recommending to the Council of the European Union that Croatia’s accession negotiations be concluded and setting 1 July 2013 as the indicative date of accession.

Minister Jandroković thanked Austria for its strong and continuous support throughout the entire negotiation process.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of the communication strategy on informing the Croatian public about the EU.

Minister Jandroković expressed satisfaction over the announced attendance by Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Michael Spindelegger of this year’s Croatia Summit in Dubrovnik. He confirmed that he would also participate with his Austrian colleague in the symposium “Marking the 20 Years of Croatia’s Independence”, to be organized by the Austrian Diplomatic Academy on 13 July in Vienna.
