President Hu Jintao and Chinese high officials attended opening of EXPO 2010

At the ceremonial opening, the Republic of Croatia was represented by Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Ante Simonić and National Delegate for EXPO Ivica Maričić, which also saw the participation of national delegates from 192 countries and 50 international organizations, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to the People’s Republic of China.

The Republic of Croatia is taking part in this year’s EXPO with its national pavilion, which also features an office of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, distributing information about the economic cooperation with Croatia.

Each of the countries presented at EXPO is to have its National Day, the Croatian one being held May 15th 2010. Apart from a performance by the National Folk Dance Ensemble LADO and a solo concert by pianist Maksim Mrvica, it will also include a ceremonial reception.

This year’s EXPO is the largest in history, covering the area of 5.3 square kilometres and located in the very centre of Shanghai. It is expected to be attended by more that 70 million visitors.
