Political consultations were held today, 3 June 2004, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Zagreb, between the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Hungary
The talks discussed the issues of political and economic co-operation, as well as Croatian’s approaching the European integrations. Hungary offered to share its experiences and knowledge in the process of joining the EU. State Secretary Bársony handed State Secretary Biščević the Action Plan covering the areas of concrete co-operation in the expected Croatia’s membership negotiations with the EU. Special attention was paid to the exchange of opinions about the situation in Southeast Europe, as well as the further activities of the EU and international community in the region. The two state secretaries, in their capacity as co-chairmen of the Mixed Committee for co-operation between the governments of the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Hungary, also discussed the carrying out of joint activities within the framework of the Committee. It was agreed that the next meeting of the Committee be held early-July 2004 in Hungary. The bilateral relations between Croatia and Hungary were described as very good and concrete steps for the strengthening of the co-operation were agreed upon.
