Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Joško Klisović held political consultations with Palestinian Deputy Foreign Minister Taysir Jaradat, who was accompanied by Assistant Minister of European Affairs Amal Jadou.

The interlocutors discussed the current status of the Middle East peace talks and the problem of terrorist groups in the wider region such as ISIL/Daesh. They also talked about the recent escalation of violence in Jerusalem, agreeing that the tensions should be alleviated as soon as possible.

The meeting also reviewed the international community’s efforts in the Middle East, notably Syria and Iraq.

Klisović underlined that Croatia would continue to participate in development cooperation project in Palestine, for which Jaradat expressed sincere gratitude. The interlocutors agreed that the European Union needed to engage more strongly in the Middle East, both economically and politically, and in that sense welcomed the efforts within the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP).
