Political and professional consultations held between Croatian MFAEI and BiH MFA, hosted by Assistant Minister Neven Pelicarić

On 27 March 2008, political and professional consultations were held between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, hosted by Croatian Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Neven Pelicarić

The consultations are the result of a mutual wish to further deepen the two countries’ relations and co-operation. In that regard, the Croatian side offered its experience and knowledge in approaching the Euro-Atlantic integration, for the purposes of furthering the co-operation in the region. The consultations determined the ways to strengthen the two countries co-operation on the bi- and multilateral plane, as well as the co-operation within regional organisations.

Professional consultations were held within working groups for certain areas, led by the relevant assistant ministers, laying out a detailed overview of the condition of bilateral relations, outstanding issues, consular co-operation, the condition of bilateral agreements, and the ways of offering assistance and transferring Croatia’s experience with the aim of further pushing BiH closer to the EU and NATO, as well as educating the diplomatic-consular staff of the BiH MFA. It was also agreed that the co-operation should continue through further professional meetings and additional consultations on individual topics.

The head of the BiH delegation, Assistant Minister for International Legal and Consular Affairs Zoran Perković, was received by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković. The two countries’ bilateral relations were given high marks. Minister Jandroković and Assistant Minister Perković welcomed the consultations, held in accordance with the agreement between the two ministers during Minister Jandroković’s official visit to BiH in February, pointing out that such a form of dialogue contributes to the overall deepening of bilateral relations.
