Permanent Croatian Representative to UNESCO Galić handed credentials to UNESCO Director General Matsuura
The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Croatia to UNESCO in Paris, Ambassador Mirko Galić, handed on 4 April 2007 in UNESCO headquarters in Paris his credentials to UNESCO Director General Koichiro Matsuura
In the meeting between Permanent Representative Galić and Director General Matsuura, both sides confirmed the very successful co-operation between Croatia and UNESCO. Permanent Representative Galić pointed out Croatia’s particular interest in the fields of science, culture, and education, as well as Croatia’s contribution to UNESCO’s promotion of peace policy in the world.
The meeting noted the activities Croatia is undertaking in preparing for and adopting the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions and the Convention on the Protection of Non-Material Heritage. Director General Matsuura commended Croatia’s positive role in the affirmation of the Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage in the countries of South Eastern Europe.
