Orderly withdrawal of UK from EU on 1 February 2020

On 1 February 2020, the United Kingdom will cease being a member of the European Union with the coming into force of the Agreement on the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union and Euratom.
Croatia respects that decision, but regrets the withdrawal of a country that has given invaluable contribution to the development of the EU.
Pursuant to the Agreement, during the transition period lasting until 31 December 2020 there will be no changes for the citizens and the business community, and the EU law will still apply. The EU and UK plan to reach an agreement during said period on future partnership.
Therefore, Croatia as the presiding country will do all it can for the EU to adopt guidelines for these negotiations as early as end-February.
