On Wednesday, 22 September 2010, State Secretary for European Integration Andrej Plenković received the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia, Vojko Volk, in his inaugural visit.

State Secretary familiarised the Ambassador with the dynamics of the accession process of the Republic of Croatia to join the European Union, and the present status of the negotiating process. He expressed his conviction that partnership relations between two neighbouring and friendly states would continue.

Ambassador Volk stressed the support of the Republic of Slovenia at the final stage of the negotiations between the Republic of Croatia and the European Union and offered to convey Slovenian experience in the first several years of EU membership.

They both welcomed the work of the Joint Croatian-Slovenian Commission for settling open issues that is to meet in October. They also stressed the role of both states in strengthening regional cooperation, in particular the so-called Brdo Process, through the organisation of a number of sectoral conferences.
