On behalf of Croatian Government, Ambassador Filip Vučak signs in Madrid Protocol on Integrated Management of Mediterranean Coastal Area

On behalf of the Croatian Government, Ambassador Filip Vučak signed in Madrid the Protocol on Integrated Management of the Mediterranean Coastal Area, stemming from the Barcelona Convention on the Protection of the Marine Environment and Coastal Region of the Mediterranean and setting up a legal framework for the sustainable development and comprehensive protection of coastal areas

The Protocol pertains to preserving the natural wealth of the Mediterranean coastal areas through the co-operation of local and state authorities, which the Mediterranean countries have recognised as a strong common interest.

The Protocol, whose ratification is expected soon, was signed along with Croatia by another 13 Mediterranean counties (Algeria, Montenegro, France, Greece, Israel, Malta, Morocco, Monaco, Italy, Syria, Slovenia, Spain, and Tunisia).

The body in charge of the implementation of the Protocol for the entire Mediterranean area is the Mediterranean Action Plan Regional Centre in Split.
