Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and RACVIAC, the workshop gathered 50 odd participants from 11 countries and representatives of nine international and non-governmental organizations. At the RACVIAC center in Zagreb they were familiarized with all the details and novelties introduced by this convention. The opening speech was held by State Secretary for European Integration, who pointed out hat Croatia has a first-hand experience with the lethality of submunition.

The Convention will be open for signing 3 December in Oslo, and will be signed behalf of the Republic of Croatia by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandroković.

The Convention pays special attention to civil rights and the consequences of submunition. Croatia was one of the first countries in the region whose representatives publicly warned about the danger these weapons pose, having learned from the experience of the Homeland War. Croatia will be among the first countries to ratify the Convention, showing strong support for efforts stemming from that document.
