National Coordinatior of the Stability Pact, Gordan Markotić, received today in the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs the former Finnish Defense Minister and a special UN reporter on human rights for ex-Yugoslavia, Elizabeth Rehn. Rehn has recently been elected president of the Stability Pact Working Table I on Democratization and Human Rights. Her formal appointment is to take place at the Stability Pact Regional Table meeting on 27 May in Cavtat.

National Coordinator Marković informed Rehn of Croatia's priorities and new initiatives within the Stability Pact Working Table I, which include the reconciliation initiative, to be presided over by Rehn. Special emphasis was placed on the return of refugees and displaced persons, gender equality and media.
