Ministers Pusić and Erjavec hold talks on region and Ljubljanska Banka

Statement by Minister Pusić after a meeting with Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec.

“Minister Erjavec and I talked about two separate issues, and these were the issue of Ljubljanska Banka's transferred savings and the relations in the region and its European future. We agreed on a meeting in Croatia, probably in the second half of October, after the Croatia Forum in Dubrovnik, between me and my counterpart Erjavec and our financial experts. We will discuss the next steps in the handling of the transferred savings issue, given that the Basel Bank for International Settlements has reiterated that it is not competent in this case. The other issue, as I said, was the situation in the region and its European future, which is something Croatia and Slovenia wish to cooperate in.”

Is there a solution for Ljubljanska Banka, as the Basel Bank said it was not competent?

“We will continue to hold talks on that issue. The case of transferred savings is a specific segment, existing only in Croatia. The talks will continue.”

She and Erjavec also talked about the relations in the region and its European future. "The region's European future is something in which Slovenia and Croatia can and wish to cooperate," she said.
