Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul headed the Croatian delegation at the 2nd meeting of the Partnership Commission for the Implementation of the US-Adriatic Charter, taking place 20 May 2004 in Skopje
The meeting discussed the achievements in the process of Croatia, Macedonia and Albania’s approaching NATO. The meeting also saw the marking of the first anniversary of the US-Adriatic Charter, signed 2 May 2003. The three ministers pointed out in the joint statement that they expect and want the next NATO summit, to be held in Istanbul end-June, to send a clear signal about the future admission of the three countries into the Alliance.
Croatia will soon assume the presidency of the Adriatic Group for a 6-month term. Minister Žužul announced that in that period political consultations with NATO members and other countries in the region will intensify and that public will be more thoroughly informed about the process of entering NATO. The Adriatic Group will join the war on terrorism and the prevention of spreading the WMAs. Taking part in NATO’s peacekeeping missions, such as that in Afghanistan, will also be a priority in the coming period.
After the meeting, heads of delegations held a joint meeting with B&H Foreign Minister Mladen Ivanic and S&MN Foreign Minister Vuk Drašković, who were staying in Skopje as guests.
Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski received all heads of delegation, while Prime Minister Designate gave a lunch for all distinguished guests and heads of delegations, participants at the 2nd Partnership Commission meeting.
