Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul met today, 16 March 2004, at the Presidential Palace in Jerusalem with the President of the State of Israel Moshe Katsav
President Katsav confirmed Israel’s interest for good relations and readiness to enter a new phase of relations with Croatia. The same interest for strengthening the overall relations between the two countries came from the Croatian side as well. President Katsav informed Minister Žužul about the situation in Israel and about Israel’s wish for a peaceful solution of the relations in that part of the world.
Minister Žužul informed President Katsav about the goals and priorities of the Croatian government, especially in foreign policy. Regarding the Croatian-Israeli relations, Minister Žužul said that Croatia is optimistic about the future and the development of mutual co-operation and bilateral relations. Ministers Primorac and Čobanković also informed the Israeli president about the successful talks with their colleagues, Israeli ministers, scientists and agriculture experts.
Minister Žužul extended greetings from the Croatian president Stjepan Mesić to the Israeli president Moshe Katsav, after their two meetings in Israel in Croatia. Minister Žužul also informed the Israeli president about today’s speech by Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader at the opening of the reconstructed monument in Jasenovac in the memory of the Jasenovac victims, adding his own visit today to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Museum in Jerusalem.
Minister Žužul also visited the Alley of the Righteous, the Historical Museum, the Memorial Children’s Hall and laid down the wreath for the Holocaust victims and made an entry in the Book of Impressions. Minister Žužul and the Croatian delegation are ending their visit to Israel tomorrow afternoon.
