Expressing honour and satisfaction over Bildt’s visit, Pusić pointed out it was the first high-ranking diplomatic visit since the new Croatian government had taken office. She thanked Sweden and Bildt personally for the excellent cooperation, especially the engagement during the Swedish 2009 EU presidency in helping Croatia and Slovenia to find a solution to the border issue and unblock Croatia’s negotiations.

The two officials also discussed the pending Croatia’s EU accession referendum, whose positive outcome will make Croatia the first Southeast European country on the doorstep of the European Union. Minister Pusić announced her participation in the EU foreign ministers' meeting the following week in Brusse ls, which will mark the first time that Croatia is being represented.

Minister Bildt expressed satisfaction with the continuation of the dialogue aimed at further advancing the two countries’ bilateral relations, describing them as very good. He pointed out that Sweden had continuously supported Croatia along its road to the EU membership, adding he believed Croatia would play an important role in the Council of Ministers and the EU bodies.

Opinions were also exchanged about a number of topics regarding regional cooperation and the situation in Southeast Europe, namely its countries’ shared interest to develop bilateral relations.
