Minister Pusić receives US Assistant Secretary of Defense Chollet

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić met with US Assistant Secretary of Defense Derek Chollet, who was on a visit to Croatia

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić met with US Assistant Secretary of Defense Derek Chollet, who was on a visit to Croatia.

The two officials discussed the current state of affairs in the region, with Pusić informing Chollet about her visit to Belgrade the day before and her meeting with Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Vučić, at which aerial photographs of Croatia from 1968 were returned.

Pusić and Chollet agreed that agreed that a stable Bosnia and Herzegovina was important for regional stability, with Pusić saying that a new approach towards Bosnia and Herzegovina's EU integration should be adapted to the country's specific situation and that outstanding issues should be dealt with during that process rather than making their solution a precondition for the launching of the process. She added that Bosnia and Herzegovina should be encouraged to meet criteria for the activation of the NATO Membership Action Plan

Chollet thanked Croatia for its contribution to the ISAF as well as constructive engagement in dealing with global security issues. Pusić and Chollet also discussed matters in regard to the upcoming NATO summit.
