Minister Pusić receives Polish Deputy PM and Defence Minister Siemoniak

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić received today Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Tomasz Siemoniak

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić received today Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Tomasz Siemoniak, who was on an official visit to Croatia.

Pusić expressed condolences over yesterday’s terrorist attack in Tunis, in which one Polish national was killed and 11 left wounded.

Pusić and Siemoniak agreed that Croatia and Poland shared a lot of interests within the EU and NATO, and both supported NATO enlargement to Montenegro and Macedonia. Given the security situation in the wider European neighbourhood, it is important to underline the benefits of enlarging the Alliance, Siemoniak said, while Pusić said Montenegro’s membership was important precisely because of its geographical position.

Pusić also wanted to know what Poland’s view of the situation in Ukraine was, given the upcoming Eastern Partnership summit in Riga, stating that Croatia considered that each Eastern Partnership member state should get a tailor-made approach. She said she believed Croatia and Poland would continue to cooperate within peacekeeping missions, emphasizing the importance of combining military missions with civilian projects in order to ensure lasting peace.
