First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić received European Parliament vice presidents Laszlo Surjan (EPP, Hungary) and Rainer Wieland (EPP, Germany), who were visiting Croatia for a seminar on decision-making in the European Union.

Speaking of the accession process, Surjan said it had been equally difficult and long for each member country, although each country thought it had it the worst. Underlining that it was clear that Croatia belonged in Europe, Wieland said that, taking into account the earlier rounds of enlargement, Croatia adopted the acquis in the most complete manner. Pusić said Croatia used the accession process to build state institutions, adding that the process would not end with the eventual full-fledged membership.
