Minister Picula met with the leading Croatian businessmen...

On 20 October 2003, on the occasion of the last preparations for their forthcoming visit to Brussels, Mr. Tonino Picula, the Croatian Foreign Minister, met with the leading Croatian businessmen at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 29 October 2003, the leaders of Agrokor, Atlantic Group, Eurocabel, Hrvatske komunikacije, Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Pliva and Podravka shall hold a presentation on Croatia and the Croatian economy, in Brussels, before the officials of the European Commission in charge of the Republic of Croatia.

This presentation is part of the activities of the overall lobbying of the Republic of Croatia for a speedier and positive reply to the formal application of the Republic of Croatia for membership in the European Union, i.e. for the elaboration of avis of the European Commission. The visit is intended to enable the representatives of the EU to talk and exchange views with non-governmental Croatian institutions in order to understand better the wish, the interest and the motives of the Republic of Croatia to enter the EU.

During their stay in Brussels, Minister Picula and the Croatian businessmen shall have separate meetings with Mr. Christopher Patten, EU Commissioner for External Relations, and Mr. Günter Verheugen, Commissioner for EU expansion.
