On 11 September 2003, Mr. Tonino Picula, the Croatian Foreign Minister, expressed his condolences for the killing of Ms. Anne Lindh, Swedish Foreign Minister and his “dear friend and colleague”, in a letter of condolence forwarded to the Swedish Prime Minister Göran Person, the Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden and wished that her tragic death should remind us to preserve the values she called for.

Minister Lindh largely contributed to the development of excellent relations between Croatia and Sweden, and gave important support to Croatia's efforts to become member of the EU, Minister Picula emphasised.

The Croatian Foreign Minister emphasised that the loss of Anne Lindh makes even stronger his dedication to combating terrorism and violence of any kind.
