Minister Miomir Žužul appointed member of OSCE supreme advisory body

Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Žužul was appointed member of OSCE Panel of Eminent Persons, as a representative of the Southeastern European countries and hosts of OSCE field missions

The decision to form the Panel of Eminent Persons was reached December last year at the Ministerial Council in Sofia for the purposes of eminent and experienced foreign policy officials working together on strengthening and making more efficient the bodies and structures of OSCE. The Panel’s mission is to evaluate the coming challenges, give new impetus to political dialogue within OSCE and form a strategic vision for OSCE in the 21st century. Pursuant to the Ministerial Council’s decision, OSCE Chairman and Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrije Rupel appointed seven eminent persons to OSCE supreme advisory body.

Apart from Miomir Žužul, members of the Panel of Eminent Persons include: Nikolaj Afanasjevski from the Russian Federation, Hans van den Broek from the Kingdom of Netherlands, Wilhelm Hoeynck from the Federal Republic of Germany, Kuanysh Sultanov from the Republic of Kazakhstan, Knut Vollebaek from the Kingdom of Norway and Richard Williamson from the U. S.

The Panel’s task is to prepare the dialogues for the improvement of OSCE functioning by June this year. The first Panel meetings are to take place February this year in Ljubljana and Vienna.
