Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović met in Tokyo with Japanese Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, who is on a visit to Japan as a part of the Croatian delegation at the EXPO 2005, met today, 11 April 2005, in Tokyo, with Japanese Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura

Ministers Grabar-Kitarović and Machimura confirmed the good relations between Croatia and Japan, which are with no open issues and constantly on the rise, and expressed their confidence in the further strengthening of Croatian-Japanese relations, especially in the field of economy and trade.

Grabar-Kitarović and Machimura also talked about multilateral co-operation. The Japanese minister pointed out that Japan supports Croatia on its road to the EU and NATO, reminding that Japan is offering technical support to Croatia. The two also discussed opening a Japanese language department at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb.

Minister Machimura welcomed Croatia’s participation at EXPO 2005, which contributes to the development of mutual relations. Minister Grabar-Kitarović invited Minister Machimura to a return visit to Croatia.
