On his second day in Athens, Minister Jandroković delivered a speech during the third plenary session.

Reviewing the historical development of the OSCE, from its inception in 1975 until today, Minister Jandroković said that the Euro-Atlantic future of South Eastern Europe strengthens the cooperation among the region’s countries. Croatia is on the verge of realizing its most important foreign-policy goals and has entered the final phase of the EU accession negotiations. It is determined to fulfill the remaining obligations and close the negotiation by mid-2010, said the minister, adding that our success to that end is not only a contribution to the regional stability, but also an encouragement for the other countries to continue implementing the reforms and adopting the EU legislature.

He applauded the Greek presidency’s initiation of the Corfu Process as an open and new dialogue on the key issues of European security. The decisions that the ministers adopted sends a strong political message that the OSCE is still able to efficiently rise to the varied and complex security challenges of today.

Speaking about the process of the Euro-Atlantic integration, the minister pointed out that regional cooperation is of the utmost importance for its successful continuation, as well as for achieving a lasting peace and stability in the region.

In regard to Croatia’s cooperation with the OSCE, the minister said that it is well-developed in numerous areas, and given the positive overall contribution and continuous cooperation with the Croatian authorities, the OSCE Mission is nearing the end of its presence in Croatia. We remain dedicated to the fulfillment of the remaining obligations from the OSCE’s mandate, and our responsible approach to that end has already been recognized in the OSCE’s last report, said Minister Jandroković.
