Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Friday talked over the phone with Lebanese Foreign Minister Charbel Wehbe.

Grlić Radman expressed deepest condolences on behalf of himself and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs to Wehbe, the Lebanese people and the families of the victims, underscoring hope for a speedy recovery of the injured. He also underlined the solidarity of Croatia and its people with Lebanon and all of its citizens.

In addition, Grlić Radman said that the Croatian Government had passed a decision to send urgent humanitarian aid to Lebanon by way of protective gear and financial assistance. The minister stressed that Croatia would continue to advocate additional efforts in alleviating the consequences of the tragedy. 

Wehbe thanked his Croatian counterpart, adding that the Lebanese Government was focused on the search for survivors. He expressed gratitude for Croatia’s assistance and underscored solidarity with the citizens of Zagreb still dealing with the consequences of the earthquake. 

At yesterday’s conference call, the Croatian Government decided to send €20,000 worth of protective gear as well as €100,000 in financial aid.
