Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Tuesday participated in a videoconference of NATO member states’ foreign ministers

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Tuesday participated in a videoconference of NATO member states’ foreign ministers.

The first day of the meeting saw the ministers discussing the NATO 2030 initiative, Afghanistan and Russia.

The Group of Experts presented its report to the ministers, completing the first phase of NATO 2030. The goal of the initiative is to update and adapt the Alliance to future challenges and threats. Grlić Radman supported its goals, including preserving NATO as a strong military alliance in the future.

Addressing the conference, the ministers underscored the value of NATO’s engagement in Afghanistan to date and reflected on Russia’s influence in the neighbourhood. In that context, he stressed the importance of keeping the Alliance’s focus on the Western Balkans. Grlić Radman highlighted the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding that an agreement on changing the Election Act would be a big step towards further Euro-Atlantic integration and security in the country, as it would eliminate discrimination, respect the equality of the three constituent nations and enable the Croats in the country to elect their legitimate representatives.
