Addressing the event, Grlić Radman underlined that during its EU presidency Croatia had worked on a coordinated European approach to public health protection, which simultaneously ensured the freedom of movement and the maintaining of economic activity. He reported on Croatia’s comprehensive response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which includes measures to protect jobs and short-term private sector liquidity. The minister also underscored that Croatia, as a popular tourist destination, had successfully balanced between health protection and open borders, which had yielded solid economic results.

In addition, Grlić Radman emphasized that the crisis should be seen as an opportunity to strengthen economic resiliency through digitalization and transitioning onto new and green technologies.

Concluding his address, the minister stressed that multilateralism, solidarity and cooperation were of paramount importance for economic recovery, underscoring that OECD membership was an important foreign-policy goal for Croatia.
