Minister Grlić Radman participates in 23rd EU-ASEAN ministerial meeting

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Tuesday participated in the 23rd ministerial meeting of the EU with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Tuesday participated in the 23rd ministerial meeting of the EU with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), held virtually.

In his address, Grlić Radman underlined the decades-long successful cooperation between the EU and ASEAN, expressing strong support for the Strategic Partnership Agreement. “This agreement is an opportunity to advance long-term relations at the highest level,” the minister said, adding that Croatia supported cooperation with ASEAN in security matters, while taking into account ASEAN’s principles of autonomy and neutrality.

In addition, he said that Croatia welcomed the adoption of the Joint Ministerial Statement on Connectivity. “Connectivity is one of the key principles in overcoming global challenges such as COVID-19,” the minister underscored, recalling that connectivity was one of the priorities of Croatia’s EU presidency.

Concluding his address, Grlić Radman stressed that Croatia was committed to joint work on post-pandemic recovery and that multilateral efforts were needed to fight the pandemic and alleviate its socioeconomic fallout.
