Minister Grlić Radman officially visits Saudi Arabia

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Sunday paid an official visit to Saudi Arabia, where he met with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud.
 
The meeting confirmed further momentum in the cooperation between Croatia and Saudi Arabia, countries committed to peace as well as regional and global security, and determined to advance bilateral dialogue, notably in economy. The two ministers will consider holding a business forum and advancements in sustainable tourism, sports, the IT sector, the defense and electrical industries, as well as shipbuilding.
 
Croatia’s support for Vision 2030 and the green transition was underlined. Faisal Al-Saud invited Croatian companies to join projects under this national strategy.
 
Grlić Radman underscored the excellent relations between the Croatian government and the Islamic community in Croatia. “The tradition of understanding with the Islamic community in our country makes Croatia unique, as well as an example on the European and international level. We will continue to promote the highest standards of religious tolerance, mutual understanding and the spirit of interfaith unity,” he said.
 
The two ministers also discussed the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East and Croatia’s neighborhood. In light of the recent Hamas attack on Israel, Grlić Radman conveyed the concern and the priority of stopping the violence, calling on Saudi Arabia’s role and influence through peace initiatives to normalize relations with Israel.
 
The Croatian foreign minister also held talks with Chairman of the Consultative Assembly Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al ash-Sheikh on the current political challenges and priorities of intercultural and interreligious understanding. The Saudi side is interested in continuing parliamentary cooperation with Croatia.
