Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Thursday met with the President of the Croatian National Council (HNS) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Čović.

The talks focused on the political situation in BiH, notably concerning the elections, as well as the status of BiH Croats.

Grlić Radman reiterated that reforming the election law in a way that would ensure equality and legitimate representation of constituent peoples as well as eliminate discrimination in the electoral process was still a prerequisite for a successful BiH as well as the country’s progress towards EU membership.

Čović informed Grlić Radman about the challenges of realizing voting rights for Croats and the roadblocks in talks on electoral reform.

The two officials agreed that amending the election law was crucial for a stable and functioning BiH, a sovereign and territorially integrated country, as well as for building long-term trust among the three constituent nations and ensuring equal rights for all citizens.

Grlić Radman underlined that the Croatian Government continued to support BiH Croats so that the country could achieve stability and prosperity, and in the long run realize its Euro-Atlantic ambitions.
