Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Tuesday received the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Parliamentary Assembly, Dragan Čović.

The two officials discussed the recent local elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the upcoming local elections in the city of Mostar, as well as the current political situation in the country. They expressed their satisfaction that the elections had been held according to the highest democratic standards despite the unprecedented health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Grlić Radman and Čović stressed that it was important that the local elections in Mostar also be held in a democratic and tolerant atmosphere, given that the last local elections were held there 12 years ago.

Grlić Radman congratulated all local leaders elected among Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Croats, underscoring that the election of legitimate political representatives at local level was of paramount interest to the Croats in the country. He was also hopeful that the Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina would be able to elect freely and democratically their legitimate political representatives at the following parliamentary elections as well as the presidential elections.

Čović thanked Grlić Radman for Croatia’s continued support to the Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina in preserving their political rights as a constituent people, as well as for financial assistance to important social institutions that are working to ensure the equal status of the Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
