Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman paid a visit to Budapest on Wednesday, 25 August 2021, where he met with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjárt.

Ministers exchanged views on bilateral issues, such as strengthening cross-border and economic co-operation, but also global issues such as the current challenges in Afghanistan and migration.

Following the generous donations of Hungary for the Sisak-Moslavina County after the earthquake, Minister Grlić Radman thanked Hungary for hosting children from the areas affected by the earthquake on Lake Velence.

The interlocutors expressed satisfaction that, despite the restrictions of the pandemic, a regular political dialogue was maintained at all levels. More importantly, the COVID19 pandemic did not have a significant negative effect on economic relations either, which is evident in the stable trend of trade. Equally, the ministers stressed the importance of strengthening cross-border co-operation, in order to further encourage residents on both sides of the border to sustainably address common challenges.

"I am glad that Hungary has recognized Croatia as a safe holiday destination, as evidenced by the numbers. Namely, in the first seven months of this year, more Hungarian tourists visited Croatia than in the whole of 2020 ", said Minister Grlić Radman, talking about the successful tourist season in Croatia.

After the meeting, Minister Grlić Radman gave a speech at the conference of Hungarian ambassadors on current global and EU challenges, as well as the importance of the enlargement of the European Union to Southeast Europe.
