Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on 16 July 2020 received the UN Special Envoy for Road Safety and President of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), Jean Todt.

The talks focused on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mobility and traffic, as well as on Croatia’s progress in road safety.

Grlić Radman informed Todt about the trend of reducing traffic accidents and fatalities on Croatian roads. He also familiarized him with the activities Croatia had undertaken during its EU presidency, which placed road traffic high on the priority list.

Todt reflected on the UN’s initiative aimed at passing a UNGA resolution on road safety and the “#3500 Lives” campaign launched by FIA. Grlić Radman highlighted Croatia’s potential for achieving Vision Zero, a multinational road traffic safety project that aims to achieve a highway system with no fatalities or serious injuries.
