Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Thursday chaired the annual meeting of the Commission for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid Abroad, held in-person for the first time in two years. The commission is an interdepartmental body established to coordinate cooperation and strengthen coordination among developmental and humanitarian stakeholders on the national level.

Addressing the members of the commission, Grlić Radman highlighted the results of the development cooperation and humanitarian aid Croatia had provided in the previous year. Emphasis was placed on assistance to Ukraine, totalling nearly EUR 10 million to date, the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine donations, as well as cooperation with Croatian CSOs with which the ministry is jointly running projects in partner countries.

Other topics of the meeting included drafting the new law on development cooperation and humanitarian aid as well as the strategic framework of Croatia’s development and humanitarian policy for the period ahead. The participants also discussed Croatia’s OECD accession, and the need to involve the private sector in the implementation of development cooperation programmes and projects.
