Minister Grlić Radman attends UNGA, UNSC on second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

February 24th 2024 marks the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. On that occasion, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman attended the UN General Assembly session on “The Situation in the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine”, as well as the Security Council meeting.
 
Addressing UNGA, Grlić Radman condemned Russia’s aggression on Ukraine, underscoring that Russia’s violation of the international law and the principles of the UN Charter threatens the global order. He called on other UN member states to act in accordance with the relevant resolutions and invest joint efforts to uphold the fundamental principles of the Charter. The minister joined the calls on Russia to stop the war and expressed support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. He stressed that the crimes committed in Ukraine have to be prosecuted, not just to vindicate the victims, but to prevent future atrocities as well. The minister recalled Croatia’s contributions and assistance to Ukraine, highlighting Croatia’s experience in humanitarian demining and the holding of the International Donors’ Conference on Humanitarian Demining in Ukraine last October in Zagreb.
 
In addition, Grlić Radman attended a conference on “Stolen Voices - The Story of Ukraine’s Children in a Time of War”, which discussed repatriating the Ukrainian children forcefully transferred to Russia.
 
The minister also addressed the teleconference of the Reinforced Permanent Council, which too marked the second anniversary of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
