Minister Grlić Radman at PACE: Croatia as example of implementing European standards in challenging times
During the session, Grlić Radman held bilateral meetings with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Theodoros Rousopoulos, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, as well as with Croatian representatives in the Parliamentary Assembly. The discussions focused on key challenges facing the Council of Europe, particularly in the area of human rights protection and strengthening democratic standards, with special emphasis on the context of Southeast Europe.
In his address to the members of the Parliamentary Assembly, Grlić Radman highlighted Croatia's journey from being a victim of military aggression to becoming a successful European state that actively upholds European norms in geopolitically challenging times, while also supporting its neighbours in the European Southeast. In this context, he emphasized the importance of stability and functionality in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the implementation of judgments by the European Court of Human Rights, with full respect for the principles of the Dayton Peace Agreement, as well as the constitutionality and equality of the three constituent peoples.
On the sidelines of the session, the minister also opened the exhibition "Behind the Sky", which, through artistic expression, portrays the core values of the Council of Europe—peace, freedom, and human dignity—through the lens of the suffering and sacrifice of Croatian citizens during the Homeland War.
