Minister Grlić Radman at NATO Summit: A strong message of unity and strengthening defence capabilities
At the summit, a historic decision was adopted to increase defence spending to 5% of GDP by 2035, reaffirming the Allies' commitment to defence and security. Strategic documents were also endorsed to make the Alliance more operational and better prepared for today’s challenges—ranging from hybrid and cyber threats to destabilizing military activities, including Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine. In this context, particular emphasis was placed on continuing strong support for Ukraine and strengthening the Alliance’s defence industrial base.
Grlić Radman emphasized that Croatia remains a responsible and reliable ally, consistently investing in strengthening its own defence capabilities, contributing to the operational readiness of the Alliance, and supporting security in Southeast Europe, especially in the Western Balkans region. "At a time when we are facing unpredictable challenges, it is essential to remain united and firmly focused on the security and stability of the entire Euro-Atlantic area," the Minister stated.
During his stay in The Hague, Grlić Radman attended a reception hosted by the Dutch hosts—Minister of Foreign Affairs Caspar Veldkamp and Minister of Defence Ruben Brekelmans—and held a series of bilateral talks, including a meeting with U.S. official Brendan Hanrahan. The discussions focused on strengthening transatlantic cooperation and key priorities for the future of the Alliance.
