Minister Grabar-Kitarović took part at informal Meeting of EU and Western Balkans foreign ministers
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović took part at the informal Meeting of the EU and Western Balkans foreign ministers held 10 and 11 March 2006 in Salzburg, the Republic of Austria
The topics discussed at the Meeting included the regional political development, regional and economic co-operation, legislature and internal policy, co-operation in science, research, and culture, and measures for the alleviation of the region’s visa system.
The EU foreign ministers confirmed a clear European perspective of the East European countries that ultimately leads to the EU membership, based on each country’s individual achievements in reforms and its readiness for the membership.
The Meeting commended and supported Croatia’s efforts and initiative, proposed within the European Commission’s communication, to apply the CEFTA model. According to the experiences so far, CEFTA is a good model that has served its members as a preparation of sorts for the EU, that is, the modernisations and adaptation of a country’s economy for partaking in the joint EU market.
