Minister Grabar-Kitarović took part at annual meeting of EAPC foreign ministers

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović took part today, 8 December 2005 in Brussels, at the annual meeting of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council’s (EAPC) foreign ministers

The meeting analysed the EAPC’s annual activities and discussed the role of fundamental joint values that the EAPC is based on.

The Joint Statement confirmed the EAPC’s dedication to integrating the SEE countries into the Euro-Atlantic integration and commended the progress in the region. The need was emphasised for the continuation of the co-operation between the countries in the region, promoting neighbourly relations and finding mutually acceptable solutions to open issues. The EAPC reiterated its position on being open to admitting new members based on individual achievements.

In her presentation, Minister Grabar-Kitarović said that Croatia supports the political dialogue between Serbia and Montenegro and Kosovo, which will ensure peace and security on Kosovo, as well as the respect for human and minority rights, and will facilitate economic growth in the area.

She also pointed out Croatia’s determination to increase, through diplomatic, police and military engagement, its mission to Afghanistan, and the readiness to take on the mission’s more complex and demanding tasks.

During her stay in Brussels, Minister Grabar-Kitarović also took part at the international conference organised by the Friends of Europe, entitled “Introducing the Balkans into the European Mainstream”.
