Minister Grabar-Kitarović’s meeting with the Republican Senator John McCaine

Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović met today, July 29, 2005, during her working visit to Washington, with the Republican Senator for Arizona John McCaine

Minister Grabar-Kitarović thanked Senator McCaine for his support to the Republic of Croatia. During their conversation, they agreed the relations between the Republic of Croatia and the United States were very good, to which excellent co-operation in the field of fight against terrorism and Croatia's participation in the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) also witnessed, as well as the Republic of Croatia's participation in the peace-keeping mission in Afghanistan and its support to the efforts made in Iraq.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović reported to the senator McCaine on the situation in the region and stressed Croatia's decision to continue good regional co-operation, which was not just a responsibility assigned to Croatia by the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, but Croatia's interest as well. Minister Grabar-Kitarović thanked Senator McCaine on the excellent co-operation between Croatia and the International Republican Institute (IRI) during his presidency, and said she hoped for the co-operation to continue.
