Minister Grabar-Kitarović received representatives of Afghan Ministry for Women’s Affairs

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received 18 December 2006 the representatives of the Ministry for Women’s Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan

The visit was realised as a part of the co-operation and enhancement of the relations between Croatia and Afghanistan that also entails Croatia’s assistance in the setting up and development of the Afghan democratic civil society.

The visit is intended to last a week and include meetings with the representatives of the state administration, local government and self-government of the cities of Knin and Split, and non-governmental organisations, as well as meetings with the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of the Family, Veterans' Affairs and Intergenerational Solidarity, Jadranka Kosor, attorneys for gender equality and children’s rights, and members of the Croatian Parliaments, and the visits to the Children’s Diseases Clinic and the Vrbik Kindergarten. The Afghan representatives will get acquainted with Croatia’s experiences in the field of human rights, especially women and children’s, as well as the mechanisms of their protection, and exchange opinions and their experiences.

This is the first official visit by Afghan officials to the Republic of Croatia since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
