Minister Grabar-Kitarović received President of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Göran Lennmarker

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received on Monday, 10 September 2007, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Göran Lennmarker

Minister Grabar-Kitarović said in their talk that the Government of the Republic of Croatia appreciate highly OSCE's support to the Republic of Croatia in the process of democratization of society, establishment of the rule of law, and the process of return of the refugees. She stressed the good cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Croatia and the engagement of the Head of Mission Ambassador Jorge Fuentes Vilallonga particularly through the application of the Platform, a joint project of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Croatia and which is part of cooperation on completing all the remaining tasks in the Mission mandate.

Great progress has been achieved through the Platform and the consultative mechanism of the Platform has been noted as a good example of cooperation applicable in the entire region, said Minister Grabar-Kitarović. Such progress was recognized and confirmed by OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain, Miguel Angel Moratinos in his announcement of potential end of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Croatia by the end of 2007.

President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Lennmarker supported Croatia's soon membership in the EU and expressed satisfaction with the progress in the reforms for fulfilment of the EU membership criteria. He also added that the OSCE, with its existing institutions and resources can and wishes to contribute to those processes in the sense of support to the Republic of Croatia. President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Lennmarker agreed and supported the actions of the Republic of Croatia in the sense of commitment to OSCE principles and the end of its Mission to Croatia.

During the talk both sides also considered the current state in the region in the context of issues which are related to the scope of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
