Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received on Monday, 3 September 2007, OSCE Chairman's personal representative for struggle against anti-Semitism prof. Gert Weisskirchen
Minister Grabar-Kitarović and prof. Weisskirchen talked about the current state in global struggle against anti-Semitism and exchanged opinions on activities and efforts undertaken in struggle against anti-Semitism. OSCE participating States identified a rise in anti-Semitism in the Berlin Declaration in 2000 and concluded that anti-Semitism is appearing in new forms and expressions and represents a threat to democracy, civilisation, and security in the area of the OSCE and wider.
Personal representative Weisskirchen pointed out the crucial role of education, not only in struggling but also in preventing anti-Semitism as an efficient answer to such a state and the same was recognised by the OSCE and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
The Republic of Croatia actively supports and participates in all of OSCE's activities related to promoting tolerance and indiscrimination, said Minister Grabar-Kitarović pointing out several OSCE's initiatives in which the Republic of Croatia is taking part, as well as all the activities which have been undertaken in that sense.
