Minister Grabar-Kitarović received NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning John Colston

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received on 20 March 2007 NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning John Colston, who is leading the PARP/MAP assessment delegation

Minister Grabar-Kitarović informed Assistant Secretary General Colston about the activities Croatia is conducting in informing its citizens about NATO membership and the increased level of public support. Assistant Secretary General Colston expressed satisfaction with the progress Croatia has made in the preparations for NATO membership.

The two also discussed the participation of the Croatian contingents in the peacekeeping missions around the world. Following Assistant Secretary General’s interest, Minister Grabar-Kitarović presented in short the current state of affairs in the carrying out of the reforms, namely in justice, and reported about Croatia’s activities in the region. She thanked Assistant Secretary General Colston for the support for Croatia’s efforts in acceding to NATO.

The purpose of the visit was to asses the situation and Croatia’s progress within the fifth cycle of the Membership Action Plan, for the 2006/2007 period.

During its visit to Croatia, the PARP/MAP assessment delegation also held meeting with the representatives of the relevant Croatian bodies.
