Minister Grabar-Kitarović received Dutch European Affairs Minister Frans Timmermans

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integrations Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received on 9 October 2007 the European Affairs Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Frans Timmermans, who is on a working visit to Croatia

Minister Grabar-Kitarović and Minister Timmermans expressed satisfaction with the bilateral relations, which are with no outstanding issues and have a tendency for further development. Minister Grabar-Kitarović expressed gratitude to the Dutch side for their contributions through bilateral assistance programs, in which the Netherlands are at the top of the list of contributors.

Talking about the economic relations, the two ministers concluded that the overall bilateral economic exchange is on the rise, while Minister Grabar-Kitarović expressed Croatia’s interest in deepening the co-operation in tourism and agriculture.

Informing Minister Timmermans about Croatia’s goals in acceding to full EU membership, as well as the present course of the accession negotiations, Minister Grabar-Kitarović thanked the Netherlands for their support for Croatia’s efforts and expressed hope for its continuation. The two ministers also exchanged opinions about the future reform treaty of the European Union.

Concerning Croatia’s policy towards and co-operation with the neighbouring countries within regional initiatives, Minister Grabar-Kitarović pointed out that security and region’s sustainable stability are the main goals of Croatia’s regional foreign policy.
