Minister Grabar-Kitarović received delegation of Swiss National Council, led by Chairman Janiak

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received today, 12 September 2006, the delegation of the Swiss Confederation’s National Council, led by its Chairman Claude Janiak

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the very good and friendly relations between the Republic of Croatia and the Swiss Confederation, as well as the upward trend in the bilateral relations in general.

Minister Grabar-Kitarović thanked for Switzerland’s longstanding support for Croatia in the form of humanitarian aid. She pointed out that the Republic of Croatia and the Swiss Confederation have an exemplary co-operation in all of the multilateral forums they participate in, especially the United Nations. She also emphasized that Croatia supports the founding of the UN Human Rights Council, seated in Geneva, as is following with great interest Switzerland’s initiatives regarding the Security Council reform.

National Council’s Chairman Janiak confirmed the existence of the very good relations between the two countries, adding that there is a great potential for the strengthening of economic relations, which will undoubtedly be contributed to by the Free Trade Agreement signed between Croatia and EFTA. Minister Grabar-Kitarović and Chairman Janiak agreed that there is a possibility of strengthening the co-operation between their countries in tourism and the promotion of Croatian products with the help of Swiss institutions.
