MFAEI rejects statements by Slovenian MFA and expresses strong protest against violations of Croatian national territory by Slovenian citizens

In today’s note, the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration rejected the statements by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expressed a strong protest against the violations of the Croatian national territory by the Slovenian citizens, which is in direct opposition to the stipulations contained within the Joint Statement on the Avoiding of Incidents, signed on Brijuni 10 June 2006, and the spirit of the meeting and the Joint Statement of the Croatian and Slovenian prime ministers, signed 2 September 2006 and confirmed 4 September 2006 by both governments

In today’s note, the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration rejected the statements by the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expressed a strong protest against the violations of the Croatian national territory by the Slovenian citizens, which is in direct opposition to the stipulations contained within the Joint Statement on the Avoiding of Incidents, signed on Brijuni 10 June 2006, and the spirit of the meeting and the Joint Statement of the Croatian and Slovenian prime ministers, signed 2 September 2006 and confirmed 4 September 2006 by both governments.

Furthermore, these incidents run contrary to the Agreement between the Croatian and Slovenian governments on determining the zone and official location for conducting border control on the Croatian national territory at the Sveti Martin na Muri-Hotiza border crossing, signed 25 January 2005, the stipulations of Cross-Border Transport and Co-operation Agreement, the Cross-Border Police Co-operation Agreement, and the Protocol on Mixed Patrols along the state border between the Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Slovenia.

The MFAEI expressed deep dissatisfaction with the unjustified politicising of the lawful actions by the Croatian police and the bilaterally-agreed-upon actions by the mixed Croatian-Slovenian police patrol along the state border on the left bank of the Mura River, as well as the further attempts to question a part of the land border between the two countries.
