Minister Grabar-Kitarović present at EUQUIZ finals as part of EU week

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović was present at the EUQUIZ finals, held on 5 May 2006 in Zagreb as part of EU week, held a speech and cheered the contestants

The first-placed team, Vrbovec High School, won a five-day trip to Brussels, and the second-place, a Požega grammar school, won a four-day trip to Berlin. Both awards were granted by the European Commission’s Delegation to Croatia. The third-placed Ivanec High School won the participation at the seven-day European Youth Meeting in Styria, and the award was granted by the Austrian Cultural Forum.

The finals were preceded by a state-level EUQUIZ that featured 10 teams, all of whom were awarded by the UK Embassy to Croatia.

This year’s EUQUIZ featured 225 teams (675 students) from 156 high schools all over Croatia. High-school students demonstrated their knowledge in EU history, its institutions, relations between Croatia and the EU, and the facts about the old, new and future EU members.

The MFAEI is organising the EUQUIZ for the fourth year in a row. The co-organisers are the European Commission’s Delegation to Croatia and the UK Embassy. The sponsors include the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, the Croatian National Education Institute, and numerous companies, organisations, representative offices and cultural centres.
