Minister Grabar-Kitarović opened seminar “Prevention and Building of Capacities for MFAEI Diplomatic and Consular Personnel in Human Trafficking”

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović opened on 19 March 2007 the seminar entitled “Prevention and Building of Capacities for MFAEI Diplomatic and Consular Personnel in Human Trafficking”

The seminar, organised by MFAEI in co-operation with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), with the support from the Norwegian Government, is aimed at contributing to the training of Croatian diplomatic and consular personnel through theoretical and practical education for a more quality and expert diplomatic and consular activities in this field, said Minister Grabar-Kitarović.

Describing human trafficking as an ever-growing global issue, the Minister pointed out that Croatia is actively combating all forms of criminal activities occurring in South East Europe.

Along with Minister Grabar-Kitarović, opening speeches were also held by Norwegian Ambassador to Croatia Elisabeth Walaas, Head of MFAEI Human Rights Department Dubravka Šimonović, and Head of IOM Zagreb Office Lovorka Marinović.

The seminar is taking place 19-23 March 2007.
