Minister Grabar-Kitarović informed diplomatic corps members about Croatia’s positions on recent events at Mura River
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović informed at a briefing today, 15 September 2006, the diplomatic corps members accredited to Croatia about Croatia’s positions on the recent events on the left bank of the Mura River
The minister reported that on Thursday, 14 September 2006, in Otočac na Krki, the Croatian and Slovenian representatives of the Permanent Croatian-Slovenian Water Management Commission signed the Agreement on the Reconstruction of the Flood Bank on the Left Side of the Mura River, that operationalises the Joint Statement from 2 September 2006 and defines the ways of reconstructing the Mura River bank in the border area.
The minister emphasized that all of the actions from the Croatian side were in accordance with the legal order and international agreements, as well as the documentation exchanged so far regarding that area. Croatia, therefore, does not consider itself responsible for the recent events, said the minister, and wants to solve the open issues in a constructive spirit, pointing out the need, in a spirit of neighbourliness, of avoiding politicisation for pre-electoral purposes.
